knoxville air infiltration testThe air infiltration test in Knoxville uses two specialized tools. The Blower door
sets the negative pressure in the house. With the
blower door a base line of pressure and flow are established. Then every room is tested and physically examined for air leakage and energy loss. The infrared scanner is used to diagnose problems in hard to access places. It is further used to identify hot or cold places in walls and ceilings.

Not every source of energy loss is caused by an air leak. A leaky roof can drip water into the insulation under your roof causing it to lose it’s insulation value. Insulation may not have been installed properly in the first place, but you never knew it. The space around doors and windows can be insulated but not sealed from air leakage allowing cold or heat to infiltrate or exfiltrate.

We have not found a better solution than thermal imaging technology to detect cool spots or hot spots in your house that indicate abnormal conditions. With our infrared camera we can spot temperature differentials of only one degree and pinpoint the location using a built in laser beam. We have also incorporated the ability to store the thermal image on a computer and, using specific software, print out the images. This process may be desirable to generate a Before and After Comparison if work is done to correct a problem.

The average test takes about 2 hours, longer for more complex floor plans and does not create disruption or generate any mess. Our technicians will be happy to have you accompany them as each room is checked and will discuss their findings as they go. You get to understand your home in a whole new way.
